Welcome back to the road.

The trial and error continues. After a disappointing top end run, I noticed exhaust smoke coming out of my valve cover venting holes. I removed the cover to further investigate and found it coming out of the pushrod holes on cylinder #1. My guess is the piston rings cracked due to over-advanced ignition timing. I haven't performed a compression test nor a leak down test yet but still have the rings on the way. The saga also continues...more on this after a brief word from our sponsors.

If it's coming out of the cover I would think valve seals not rings. Have you replaced those recently?

Where are there sponsors at? Where can I get some, this shit ain't cheap!

valve train was assembled where my head was machined. A leak down test will determine if its the valves or rings but I'm pretty sure its the rings due to pre
-ignition.

compression was 130-ish on cylinders #1 thru #3 but #4 was @ 80. Too lazy to change rings. runs good, just smokin' at WOT. I'm currently working on intake manifold for bike carbs.

I remember when the rings started going on my 2nd engine, anytime I let off the throttle it made a blowoff noise. When I first heard it I thought "WTF, that's not good.". I pulled over and popped the hood and every time I let off the throttle it was blowing a shitload of oil through the dipstick, needless to say my engine bay was nasty as hell.

mines was spraying out the valve cover port located in the front due to blow thru so I just ran a hose from it to the carb. I believed my timing was way too advanced and damaged my rings on #4. I have to make time to replace them. progress is slow right now.

Trying to figure out the compound angles on the tubing for intake manifold...

That stresses me out just thinking about all the absolutely perfect measurements you need, jeebus.

yes, I'm at the brink of just purchasing one from boggs brothers or danst engineering.
