I've researched, read, experimented, and I really am stumped on were to set ignition timing on this 3tc. Its been set from 10 deg being stock, to 15 deg were I have it now. It runs ok but I feel it could use more timing. Some kid on facebook claims to have his set at 20 deg. I dunno about that but I don't want pinging. How would I know its too much before it goes ping or boom?

I put it on 20 when I got home and took it on a test run around the block. Feels like torque bump at low rpms. Probably have make another 8th mile run to check for improvement.

In my personal opinion on this, 40 degrees at full advance is a bit much for most motors not running hi-comp and octane. If the motor feels flat at factory timing or even with slight advance then try looking at your fuel and possible vacuum. You might have a waning ignition part(s).

Some knuckle head cut-me off bad to the point that I had to swerve out of the way. Since my car horn doesn't work, I revved my engine past 9000 rpm in anger and then...clunck, clunk, clunk, ping, poong, plop, dead. I pulled over to a safe spot, cranked it up again and it rattled like bolts in a coffee can. Nasser was in the area and came through with some tools and we got the valve cover off. Thanks Nas. Two of the rocker arms came loose and their corresponding push rods. Long story short, lifters left deep dings on sealing surface of head without high spots. Replaced head gasket with Cometic, now I'm Corollin' again.

Corolla is down again hahahaha. Blew the rear end. Before I consider my options, I'll have to inspect the damage a little closer. Possible options are Weir spool kit, or Celica rear end swap. While I'm at it I'll be searching for a transmission as well before I destroy my T50. I do have a RX7 tranny but not sure about using that yet.

If you can, find an adapter and mount up that rx7 trans.

Well I bought used SR5 axles, a W50 transmission, and yoke. Upon further inspection my T50 ended up being ok after all. The drive shaft was rotating on all gears. Then I removed my axles. Those were fine as well. WTH? Finally pulled the diff out and the spider gears were chewed up. Great. Luckily I had a spare diff lying around that I previously had welded. BAM! Now I'm Corollin' again.
