there is no room for ring compressor. The piston is down between the main cap arches. I may have to cut rings.

Block was sent to machine shop for over bore, squaring, shot peening, and all that good stuff. I would buy my rods and pistons now but I'll wait till after the holidays. I don't want to deal with possible shipping drama that goes on during this time-o-year.

had clearance issues with cam bearings after install. apparently a common thing with aftermarket cam bearings for 3T engines. a little machining should take car of it. I measured 2 cranks and both had undersized rod journals on #3...weird.

After painting the block I noticed my cam bearings were put in backwards by the machine shop. I went to the shop at the time with the Toyota book to assist with bearing assembly. 3tc bearings are conical and need to be inserted in a particular order and direction. The machinist claimed he didn't need the book and that he's been doing this for 40 years. pffft.

@SkabRock5, you might find this 3TCGarage.com thread of particular interest with regards to camshafts & camshaft bearings.

Good lookin out Doc. I ended up scrapping my new bearings with the exception of #1 bearing, and replacing them with used ones from my spare block. I still had to work the I.D. On #1 with 500 grit to make clearance for the cam to fit. Next is gapping the rings for piston assembly. Don't think I'll be ready for Aug 6 though. Maybe shortly after.

Are you sure you want to use the old bearings? I thought you just spun one? Seems like a lot of work just to throw the old ones in. I'd guess that would lead to other problems. You should be able to buy different sized bearings if that's the problem you are running into. Engines aren't 100% exact, there are variations in them from the factory, and will occasionally have different sized bearings in them due to this. You'll have to do a little bit of blue printing to size them up. I would really try to avoid reusing the same bearings if you can help it though.
There are no spare parts, only unfinished projects.
