'74 Peanut Resto-Mod :)

Post by RotaSpinna69 »

Having it been suggested to me, I've decided to start a build thread on the ol' gal!!!

The car is pretty rough around the edges, but I have faith. This website and also Japanese Nostalgic Car are my new favorite sites :)

Underneath and the fender wells are in pretty good condition considering, but it looks like it will be more Mod than Resto :)

Thanks,

Andrew

At first, I was just picking this up from a friend so it wouldn't get crushed. I had plans on keeping it for a long time and going daily/weekend full on restoration...BUT AS FATE WOULD HAVE IT...

After some research into this particular chassis, it isn't exactly what I thought it was. Being a "sedan" model I was under the impression it had the 3KC 1.2L engine and the T40 trans. But to my surprise ALL the 2-DOOR sedan models came with the 2TC 1.6L!!!

So without further ado, I've decided to get back into road racing with the SCCA after a 3-4 year hiatus. I ran Formula Mazdas for a couple years and ran out of steam and money.

NOW we have a full on race car project on our hands!!!!! PICS UP OF PROGRESS SOON!!!

Thanks,

Andrew

Just noticed this is in the wrong section :(

Can a mod put this in the "retro" section, please?

Thanks,

Andrew

Picked up CBR_Toy's spare diff and axles, pulled the drivetrain to start cleaning/modding, and threw the hood back on for good measure :)

Got my rear end!!! Now I have to do some brain storming. Might go all out and ditch the leaf springs...we will see what the SCCA rule book says...

Thanks, Trouble!

One good thing about being a previous RX7 junkie, all kinds of different parts can be found after some digging around the garage. I've had about 5-6 over the years :)

Found a 2nd Gen. oil cooler that I will give some more TLC to later...

Also got my differential from Corey! Thanks again...
