Aw11 free car spare parts build

Post by aj.hudson »

Got it home and found the engine was bad and head was no good. Well I traded a member on here, hatchattack my old 7m for his 4a long block
I then ordered some parts and freshened it up before installing it re did the wireharness and cleaned a bunch of mess and now she runs!

Well I'll let the pics do the rest of the talking...

Installed new oil pump and waterpump. I pulled the cam caps and main caps to check wear and all looked good so I lubed em back up with some assembly lube and torqued em all down to spec and proceeded to put the thing back together.
ImageImageImage
Well the crank pulley key was fubar and I tried to force the pulley on... resulting in this...
ImageImage
Which led me to have to use this to pull it off
Image
Its a gm power steering gear puller and worked awesome!
ImageImage
Got a pulley from the junkyard and a new key from toyota, installed the rest of the parts and its ready to go in..I also found the ac compressor was replaced last year with a oem part!

Poly motor mount install
ImageImage
To go with solid base bushings and brass shift cable bushings (not pictured)
Image
Dei heat shield for the wire harness( the part that goes under the header to the starter) I cant find pics of the reloomed harness but the rest is pretty too!
Image
Up in the air! Despite looking unsafe it was pratty sturdy... it was pushed quite a but to make sure lol
ImageImage
My son helping out.
Image
And in.Image
The rest of the dei was used for the oil cooler hoses... here is one...

Then my fuel line was cracked so....
ImageImageImageImage
I used some leftover parts from the supra fuel system.. this gets rid of the pulsation damper btw.
ImageImage
Installed no more leaks!
I then started it up and soon realized I had the csi and #1inj. Plug switched... swapped em over and all is good.. finished up the rest.. coolant timing ect and took it for a drive. Front end feels really floaty, I suspect crappy tires sooo some 185/60/14 starspecs are on order and will be fitted to my ssr mki when they are refinished. I also scored these badboys!
ImageImage
They have been discontinued and are pretty hard to get your hands on nowadays... I lucked out and lithia toyota just got.a late.shipment and had these... I promptly ordered... I will be installing them this weekend along with the prothane bushings and will soon be ordering some koni yellows. That's all I got for now! Startup vids in the next post.

Great thread aj:tu:

Nice work with that fuel line mod too.

Yeah, that jack stand holding things up by the rotor reminded me of a rabbit trap. I just didn't see no carrot under there for the rabbit.

Thanks guys, this build was the opposite of all the other builds I've done.
Lol @ rabbit trap! Never noticed that before. Also turned out that clutch and flywheel was pretty much new so once its got some break in miles on it ill post up a vid.
Its pretty impressive for all stock!

Small update. Front end now has poly bushings and trd springs. When installing I found the ds coil was on upside down and the ps camber adjuster was spun backwards. Good news though its got fairly new shocks ball joints and tie rods. Here are some pics.ImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImage

Just got done with the rear last night. The rear is far harder to do than the front. Also if you do bushings on your car expect to find out things about your car you did not want to know! The rear ds quarter was dented... upon doing the suspension I came to the conclusion the hub had got damaged in the same accident... one of the ball joint bolt threads in the hub have been ripped out. The other 3 corners have drilled and slotted.rotors and that corner is blank.. other tires are used 185's while the ds corner is a new 195.... anyways helicoil will fix the hub and a new pair of rotors will be ordered amd a alingment will be done.ImageImage
