My Mom's 91 MR2...

Post by HondaRue »

Alright... so here's the story. Years ago my mom loaned me $1000 to help me pick up my crx. I told her I just needed a couple of months to repay her. Whe told me not to worry about it... just to start looking for her a car. "Something 2-seater and sporty." First car that came to mind was a Del Sol. She quickly vetoed that idea. A couple of years later I ended up picking up an SW20. She loved it the first second she saw it. SOOOOOOOO...

Here it is...

I'll upload more pics tomorrow to bring it up to date but this is a start.

cant wait to see this one. i remember reading in sport compact many years ago about alamo autosports doing one of these and it seemed very streight forward. good luck.

aaron, correct me if i'm wrong but didn't you say that the 5sfe tranny would mount right up to the 1mzfe? it's early in the morning and i still haven't had my coffee.

ill try to dig up that magazine. it had a step by step how too.

then ill scan it and paste it hopefully. no promises though i might not have it anymore.

also i remeber there was machining required to the flywheel.i dont remember what but maybe it was just adding holes for the clutch or flywheel bolts.

Yes and no... From what I've read, if you use the 5fse or the early 3sgte transmissions not all of the bell housings bolt holes line up. So I'm using the later 3sgte LSD equipped tranny. According to the mr2 forums it's the best option.

Nope... you get the flywheel for a Solara and it works with the 3sgte clutch and pressure plate. The intermediate shaft needs a little machine work but only to slightly move the carrier bearing.
