Should I paint the engine bay or not?

Post by cdixon311 »

Just like the title says, I can't decide how lazy I want to be. If I do paint it, how does black sound? I'm thinking of doing black on the bottom half of the car, and some shade of grey on the top. Has anyone every done this? How long did it take you?

White is murder to keep clean.

Rattle canned the S13/CA18DET with Rustoleum hammered charcoal gray.

It turned out pretty good and conceals any minor imperfections you might have.

It actually was a pretty dark gray. The Hammer paint by Rustoleum cured with a pebbled look (best I can describe) with some tiny dark specs. It actually turned out much better than I thought it would.

Just gave it a thorough cleaning with degreaser and Simple Green. Afterwards hit it with some steel wool to scuff up the paint, clean off the excess, and allow to dry fully before painting.

Yes. That is the same color I used. Here is a better shot (not much better since it was with a phone camera):
