A340E auto transmission shift kit

Post by Nasser »

here is some useful information i have compiled over the past couple days that you fellow Toyota owners could use for a couple of simple cost affective things to get more out of your auto tranny, shim your accumulators and increase pressure in the valve body by locking the kick down to WOT and adjusting a dial on the valve body.

here is a write up on shimming the accumulators http://www.lexusclub.co.uk/lsocautoboxmod.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

here is another useful link http://www.tankota.net/repair/Repair_Ma ... ba/ovr.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
it shows where the bolts for you valve body go so you don't have to go crazy remembering where you pulled them out from, their are only 2 sizes 23mm and 32mm the link has a diagram of where they go.

Keep in mind if you want to do this modification you have to be very careful keeping the gasket on the valve body in tact because if it cracks in the process of removal which is likely to happen you have to get new gaskets for the valve body which requires ordering from Toyota and some internal assembly involving check balls which can throw you off if you don't have patience, or take it to a shop and let them clean it up and reassemble with new gaskets for around 60 bux or so.
I have found the easiest way to lock the kick down is to take the bolt out and put a couple of washers on it and tighten it firmly holding the kick down in WOT and that should keep it locked in that position (while the valve body is out). nickels fit SNUG in the accumulators ive got 6 stacked in each one which is 11mm with some love you should be shimming any wheres from 6-11mm. i have a diagram for the internal assembly of the a340e valve body i got from a friend i will post here in a bit.

accumulator springs are pretty cheap and come in many different rates.either way gets the job done.
