Tip: LSD vs Non-LSD axle shaft lengths

I took a few measurements from the top of the bearing retainer to the end of the axle spline.
LSD Axles: 22 1/16"
NON-LSD Axles: 22 3/8"

Difference: 5/16" or 8mm

That 8mm is a bit of a difference.

So when you trim non lsd axles one would take 4mm off each one or 8mm off each axle, to make them work with the lsd just curious..?

8mm difference each axle. But will clear if you cut 6-7mm off (usually).

If your installing an OEM lsd with non-LSD axles you can verify it by inserting the axle until it bottoms out and measure the gap to determine how much to cut off. Just be aware that depending on housing & ring gear it could be a little different side to side (due to both the parts, and adjustment/backlash). Also, don't forget to chamfer the edge of the splines to make insertion easy.

... if you need to 'chamfer' your edge. Sounds like you have a problem, maybe you should see a doctor before it falls off?
