the only american cars consistently in FD (soon to be D1 japan) are the viper (takes its queues from the original cobra & other european models), GTO (holden monaro, again non US inspired), solstice/sky and the Ford Mustang (still sporting its all american design). the charger tried but...falken tried with a 67-68 camaro: just not competitive. shallow angle? you bet. corvettes have tried. no podium. chevy may eventually come out with a model comparable to the mustang, gto, sylvia, z, toyota saloons, 86, etc...

again, it rocks. even D1 japan champions (namely daigo saito) are actively in the works for running the stang in the 2010 d1 japan series. kumakubo (who purportedly hates hachirokus) gives the mustang his stamp of approval. as much as i've recognized hubinette and millen's podiums in FD i give credence to gitten's in his stang as well. every time a chevy has tried to compete in any drift events, they just don't deliver. it's not the drivers. all the best FD & D1 drivers opt for other makes over chevy. even at a local and regional level, instead of going full chevy, the engine is the only thing worth using but even still, LS powered chassis don't rule the roost.

i don't see the point in knocking down ford or gm. both have delivered to my satisfaction.

this stang rocks.

Im pretty sure the G8 and the Camaro (and the CTS) are all on a really similar platform.[/quote]

the americans might have took the camaro plateform from the auzzies but the g8 is 100% australia made! well designed anyways.they changed up the fascia a bit.

they did the same with the gto. in australia the holden manaro came out years before and the americans took it and changed the fascia up a bit and re-badged it the gto.

also in soudi arabia they still sell the caprice!! it is also just a rebadged g8\commadore

hmm, it took all of those "G(ov't)M" divisions to throw together a gto that's only a GTO in name. mopar is gm only because of money not by design.

Ford is still the creator and producer of the incomparable mustang. it's Ford through and through. i wish i could say that about the gto or g8 being gm through and through but it's a aussie vehicle. it's aussie ingenuity. i wish america could claim it. it's a borrowed platform. i think we're stealing the auzzie's flagship modern muscle.

this stang is still all american.

Hey im just sayin'.

Everyone is bustin' facts left and right "GM this" and "Ford that" but no one is citing their sources. Its all hearsay.

You got something interesting? Back it up with a fact.

I was about to rag on mooreofit until I did my research and realized he was partially right.

The GTO is awesome. It rides on the GM V platform. Its not australian. The australians took a european chassis and stuck an american engine in it. Remember the Lotus Carlton? Same chassis. Remember the Cadillac Catera? Same chassis. And this chassis is like 40 years old and not australian.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GM_V_platform_(RWD)

The G8 is riding on the Zeta platform and THAT was developed in Australia. However, the reason the zeta platform was developed was because the V platform was discontinued.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gm_zeta

The CTS rides on a platform that is different than that of the G8. It rides on the Sigma platform, and that is also developed by GM in Australia.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GM_Sigma_platform

So there ya go.
