i dont like poilice men

Post by Manifesto »

a couple of months ago i bought a MR2. As it turns out, it was a shittier car that i was led to believe. the tranny was shot and it was getting ~10mpg

Today, i was driving it around the area, to check my bad ass repairs, and i was pulled over by police men.

"why was i pulled over"
registrations expired.
SHIT! i shouldve had the title put in my name, but i bought parts with that money instead. its not like im driving it anyways, no worries right? nope.

"show me your drivers license"
i forgot at home, no worries, ill just tell you the DL no. i have it memorized.

"show me your insurance"
have it in a different car...

goes and does his pig thing at the computer... comes back asks if i can prove who i am. i said i havent anything on me.

"step out of the car"
pats me down, restrains me like a thug in the back seat of his cop car.
"am i about to be hauled off"
we'll see if it comes to that.

so he searches the car, which is bullshit, but he wont find anything anyway since im a good guy. comes back, asks me a bunch of stupid questions like whats my birthday and how lod i am... then lets me go with a slew of citations.

just another Saturday

Sorry you went through all that man. I know you would have been glad though if he did the same exact thing to someone who ended up being wanted or here illegally, etc...Don't forget your license next time ;).

The guy was just doing his job. Its unfortunate for you, but you have to laugh at the comedy of errors that resulted in your predicament.

thats funny, and if it happened in arizona that would be a real worry. a touchy subject because i immagrated legally in 1994. even though i was born in scottsdale az. and my whole family went through the proper channels to get here and waited our turn in line.anyone who is here illegally should be deported until they have waited their turn in line. but this should not be inforced on a state level.its a federal issue. we dont need different states implementing their own immigration laws.

And as far as the whole driving is a priviliage thing is a load of communism. if you would have said those exact words in the 50's you would find yourself being questioned by our gov.(see red scare).operating a motor vehicle is your right. just like owning a firearm! anyone who says otherwise is a socialist.

I am going to let that "gestapo" comment slide, particularly since you wouldn't know that my entire family comes from Germany after surviving World War II and Nazi Germany. To compare your encounter with your local constable to the misguided dealings of the Gestapo is ludicrous at best and I won't even indulge such a juvenile off-handed comparison.

FACT: You got pulled over for an expired registration.

FACT: You had no driver's license (nor any other form of ID for that matter)

FACT: You had no insurance

FACT: The car you were driving was not registered in your name

These things were no one's fault but your own. What did you expect the officer to do? Let you go on your merry way?

Also, if you feel that driving is your "right", then why did you get a driver's license? why do you register your car? Why do you get insurance?

You admittedly said you spent the money intended for registration fees on parts instead. Frankly, you were derelict in your responsibilities as a citizen and taxpayer. By all rights, from your own ramblings above, you forfeited your "right" to drive because the car you were driving was in fact...

...wait for it...

...an "illegal".

i figure i wasnt arrested because im a nice guy, and the policeman could tell i wasnt a bad guy. that or im a smooth talker in a pinch

That was a comment made by someone else, and my mom was German Jew. However, not to be glib... the Gestapo were just doing their job

there are plenty of reasons why this went down the way it did. when i go to court, all of it is going to be dismissed. its just a huge PITA to have to miss work for this.
-i asked him if i could have my sister bring my ID since my house was less than 1/2 mile away. he said nope.
-i went to the court the day after i bought the car, and they wouldnt let me transfer the title because the PO wanst there to sign the transfer application. dudes deployed right now.
-cars is a piece of shit, im fixing it up. i was just checking my work with a quick test drive. i dont see how its imperative that a project car have its registration/ insurance up to date.
oh well... shit happens...
GamblerZ wrote:if you feel that driving is your "right", then why did you get a driver's license?
someone else said that. but i agree with the principal which that statement is based. the USA is becoming a police state. but that is a totally different discussion.
GamblerZ wrote:Frankly, you were derelict in your responsibilities as a citizen and taxpayer
thats a strong conclusion youve drawn from very limited information. you seem to be an extremely judgmental person.

i like the joke, but the rest of the post has made you come across as a jerk.

im not mad at anyone in particular. not even GamblerZ for what may or may not have been insults lobbed at me

I feel the hate! Recently got pulled over for "brake lights out" and was taken to jail because i had a warrant for a ticket i paid! Anyways a friend came to pick up car to save me from a tow and he wound up right next to me in jail. He had a warrant for some domestic dispute from 3 years ago he never even knew about! Anyways while in jail the phone can only call bailbondsmen and since mine was just a fine noone wanted to help me... Nobody even knew i was in jail!!! All the while im sitting there all these other people with gun charges larson breaking and entering ect get bondsmen and are out way before me.
I got picked up at 3am and was released around 1pm... Wasnt very happy...
