i been looking around and most are on top of where the rear axis area is in the truck close to the back seat ... does it matter if its back like close to the tail light wonder if that will mess up the weight distribution

I would tuck it against the passenger side of the trunk. No need to unnecessarily waste trunk space unless you are going to make it a dedicated track/drift car.

agreed or unless you wanted to just have a shaved engine bay but even then i've seen clean engine bays with the battery in the bay it would be a hassle when/if you had to get a jump start i'd assume

well GamblerZ the reason i was think to put it in the center of the rear axle and close to the seat was so i dont wear a shock/springs in one side .. trunk space is not a factor this is a weekin driver

but is that the best place for gravity peeps ?

Between the axles is probably the most ideal for weight centering, but it will require you to go to a safer gel battery and take extra safety measures since it would most likely be mounted inside the cabin. Otherwise, you could use a hot rod style drop down battery box in the trunk just behind the axle. This location will help offset the driver's weight acting as a counterbalance.

Of course, the only way to SURELY know where the best location is would be to have the car corner balanced with you in the car and move the battery around for that optimal spot.
