Installing an MSD 6AL on a 4AC engine

You're best bet is to just pull the dist. cap and look inside for a 4 tooth star in the center (your trigger wheel) under the rotor. If you see that then you have an electronic ignition dist. If you don't see that then take a pic and post it so I can be yet again surprised.

I'll check it out with my Dad sometime this week and report back here

It'll be out of an 80-82 Tercel.

I didn't think to ask this, but is the above unit an electronic distributor?

So I checked the parts diagrams for a 1981 Tercel and I found 2:

The 2nd diagram has 1 item labeled "Point" (19145)

I'm guessing that is a points distributor and the 1st one is electronic?

If so I'm guessing most Toyota diagrams have the points labeled on points distributors
