Falken ZE-502 vs. ZE-912

Post by Law »

This will be for drifting in an underpowered AE86
Surface: old asphalt
Course: 4th gear initiation

4AG HP: Dynoed at 107hp 90lb/tq
Suspension: Adjustable Short Stroke Struts Front and Rear, 10kg spring front, 8kg spring rear, TRD bushings, stock sway bars

Current tire set up:
F: ZE-512 195/50/15
R: ZE-912 185/60/14

Planned new tire set up:
F:ZE-502 195/50/15
R:ZE-912 185/60/14 (still the same)

So, basically I'm changing the front tires. REAR WILL STILL BE THE SAME.

The 512 directional tread tires have been phased out for the 912 non directional tread tires. I really loved the 512's. Too bad they discontinued them. The new 912's are good in the rear because they are non directional, so I can flip them when one side wears faster than the other (due to the course layout)

I plan on using the 502 as a replacement in the front, even thought the 912 is superior to the 502. Will I experience a big difference as far as tire wear and traction? I like the tread pattern of the 502 better, but if it is seriously lacking performance in comparison to the 912's I'm using in the rear, than I may use the 912 up front as well (so I will be running ZE-912 at all four corners).

Thanks for your input.
