7ag build

Post by aj.hudson »

Pretty sure the bottom end is stuffed on my bigport, planning for the worst...

I want to get it up and running cheap(ish) while retaining the stock ecu and a stock blacktop ex. manifold. I figure a 7age wouldnt cost hardley any more than a regular build.
So far I figured Id build it with the following parts.
7afe block
7afe rods
bigport pistons
924 timingbelt?
seals gaskets ect.
Im also undecided on which hg to use, the 7afe hg will yield a cr of 10.3:1
while a 4age hg will yield a 9.7:1cr and the bigport stock is 9.4:1
Naturally I want to run the highest cr for the most power and have no problem filling up with 93octane but I am unsure of how the stock ecu and injectors will handle the cr increase, Im sure the 9.7 should be okay but is 10.3 too much?

I will have to get and use a 7afe flywheel but Not sure what clutch will work and I assume what I got wont work correct?

I also read adj. cam gears are needed is this true or can i do without?

Anything Im missing? Should I even do this? or should I just do a stock rebuild?
All comments opinions help suggestions or whatever is appreciated and encouraged!!

7AFE/4AFE/4AC flywheel due to the 6 bolt configuration. Any one the clutches should work. If you're putting this in a rwd car I'd say use the 4ac flywheel(or aftermarket variant) and the clutches are the same for all rwd A series engines.

cam gears are a must due to the taller deck of the 7A
