o2 Sensor

Post by MadeInThe80s »

So I need to hookup my new o2 sensor and I have no idea where the previous owner stuck the connector that goes up into the dash. Anyone take a pic of what it looks like and kinda where it should be?

It currently has a 4 wire o2 sensor plugged into it and I think that may be whats throwing me off on it. Ive found a two wire round plug that I think was the original o2 connector and if so, Im set.

you have a megasquirt. i highly recommend a wideband for tuning. tuning with a narrowband sucks.

I do have a wideband, thats why I needed to know which plug goes back to the harness.

if its an innovate you need to go to the brown wire.

although the yellow wire simulates a narrowband voltage you could probably make it work. i just dont know how well the resolution is going to be because its a 0-1v signal.

if you just have the sensor by itself then you will need a wideband controller to interface with the megasquirt such as the innovate lc1- lm1 or others.

megasquirt supports alot of controllers.

Did you put yours in the stock location? And did you just run the wire straight over to the ecu location? or tap the stock connector? I cant find where mine is located.

80s, the factory O2 is a single wire type with IIRC a yellow round connector. i'll post up a pic when the vampires go back to bed.

im just plain confuzzled? are you tapping the wideband or the stock narrowband?

i welded a new bung in my exhaust for the wideband and kept my stock in to run the stock. ecu. because my auto tranny is ecu controlled

I'm hooking up the wideband to the stock wire to the megasquirt unit. I asked about the bung because I was worried about heat burning up the sensor. I guess the bung on bottom would work, I just now thought of that! Hah.

the sensor can take the heat. they just dont like pressure because it will skew the reading. ie: before a turbo or something.
