i just got my self into a lot of trouble...

i got my diy kit on saturday and started assembly right away. got it 90% finished sunday night, so i thought, if everything is this simple i'm just going to install it into my car no big deal. i have been trying to get my car started ever since. i downloaded msextra v2.25 code into my ms and up untill today i finally realized i need v3.0 or higher for the sequential injection kit, but can't find it anywhere.
http://diyautotune.com/diypnp/docs/sequential.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

i sent a question to diypnp hopefully they respond tomorrow... at the rate things are going i doubt it will be running by this weekend. i am going to trailer it to houston, but, it would be nice for it to at lease start. i already altered my wiring so i really don't want to go back and undo stuff to connect my oem ecu. oh well.

the way i ran my ms was so i could disconnect the squirt in two minutes and have it running on the stock pcm. you have plug and play! you cant just put the stock pcm back in?! also you will hear from diy they are good guys and should have the software, check under their site under downloads.

as far as tuning its pretty easy.

i was running my 1nz ignition coils in batch fire. now, i used the 2 signal wires from the iac valve to make the coils fire off sequential. that way i didn't need to redo my whole harness. so, i wouls have to go back and undo everything if i wanted to run the oem ecu.

so what version was flashed to that ms? 029y4, hi res,ms2 2.0?

you need to know whats on the ms than go to megatune and open the same file after you click the shortcut.

like mine is a 029y4 ms extra code and when i start up megatune on my laptop and connect it will ask you what version you are running make sure you select the correct one.in my case its 029y4.

after that you go to the configurator and select your wideband.

after that set your constant (or upload an msq from another running 20v car) and start tuning.

yes, yesterday i messed around with v2.25 and megatune and it was all very simple. but, to run sequential injection you have to use v3.0.3 or higher. i am using 3.0.3r and it only works with tunerstudio and the are not comunicating through comm port 4 like it was with megatune and v2.25.

thats wierd. i use both programs with no issues.

has the megasquirtpnp been reflashed with v3.0.3? or is v2.25 still on it?you have tried all comports right? are you talking with diy about this. i had excellent customer service through them and they helped me through every problem i had.

yes, they helped me solve the problem. they were not comunicating "automatically" but they helped me configure it "manually".

new issue: i am not getting a tach signal. i believe my ms2 is not assembled properly for the nippon dual wheel sensor.
http://www.msextra.com/doc/ms2extra/MS2 ... Nippon.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
my settings on tunerstudio seem to be fine as per these instruccions. problem is, my board is not the same as the one here so i am a little lost. i assembled it according to this
http://diyautotune.com/diypnp/docs/main_assembly.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
i also refered to this http://www.lotus7.co.nz/forum/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=340" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
i have not done any changes to the board yet. there is a couple changes i already know are wrong though there are some i have no clue about.
thanks for your help Alan.

so all your spark settings match the megamanuals settings on the first link? if so i would suspect a board issue. also check your tooth logger and see if its getting an input.

also the stock ignitor is still hooked up or are you getting the tach signal strait from the vr sensors in the distributor?

yes, tunerstudio settings are the same as the megamanual. no ignitor, signal is straight from vr sensor. checked vr sensor earlier and i do have a signal. it has to be my board, i posted the same question on the msextra forum hopefully someone has used the nippondenso dist on this board before.

make sure your jumpers are set to vr sensors not hall effect. also adjust the vr pots. if you havnt done this it will have an effect on the signal it has to be tuned.

did you verify an input signal with a voltmeter?

also have you checked over your board yet for the wiring? made sure you have no solder bridging and the such. make sure all diodes and all that are wired in the right direction.

also i dindt find much help on msextraforums. theres some help on club4ag if you ask the right person but like i was saying most my help came from matt from diy.

p.s. i fought with my megasquirt for six months about getting a good tach signal but i eventually got it.

also pull the distributor and chuck a drill into it and see if you can get a rpm signal while the drill is turning the dizzy.

my first issue was no tach signal while trying to start it the first time. i would pull the dizzy and spin it by hand an erratic signals would just pop up on megatune.

that doesnt really help much just because theres voltage doesnt mean its understanding the signal. follow the link i provided to the t. adjusting these pots will condition the signal so the megasquirt understands it. first you should chuck a drill up to the sensors. you will be suprized that a signal will show up. then try adjusting the signal till it looks like its at the correct rpm. say the drills max rpm is 2500, adjust the pots with the drill at full throttle till the tach signal reaches about that rpm. if no signal is showing up than the spark settings are not correct,the internal board mods and wiring is not correct or the jumpers are not correct.
