ran into problems today.

#5 intake valve seal was shattered on my new 22,000 mile motor. :x replaced and got the new cam in before i realized the 3/8th torque wrench was at my house not where i was working on the car. i was hoping to have it buttoned up today and ready to drop back in on my next day off. damn

motors assembled and in the car.
went to start it and sure enough i have a lifter tick :x :x :x :x

i'm pissed! the car ran pretty damn good for two minutes considering i jumped 100cc's on the injectors and didnt rescale them and the new cam with no tuning.

the car ran the two minutes then died then wouldnt crank again like the battery went dead.so im pissed! :x

just a dumby check: have you cleaned out all of the old oil? ever heard of using a little bit of diesel fuel in your oil to help clear out sludge? i've never done it myself but i thought it might be worth mentioning. sorry to hear alan. :(

did you prime the engine before startup? if you didn't, that could be the reason for the ticking. also, are those hydraulic lifters? one might be stuck or it drained.

yes i totally failed on priming it. i'm pretty sure its a collapsed lifter, however it didnt misfire at all. it didnt even lope with the new cam  however it was idling at 1300 rpms.

tested the battery, alt, starter. all tested good.will be giving it another go monday, hopefully i can get it running again so i can be sure its a lifter. hope i didnt hydrolock it somehow.we can turn it over by hand just fine.
