Re: A new build......seriously the stuff of legend
I gotcha, but still think that it's just a rubber hose on a coolant outlet. It looks stock. The only thing that doesn't look stock would be those hose clamps. Maybe you should find the stock clamps and use those instead.

Re: A new build......seriously the stuff of legend
Why would smog have anything to do with your water flow? Is there some law saying you have to have a metal pipe and not a hose? If it's not over heating it shouldn't be a problem. It's not going to change your emissions at all.

Re: A new build......seriously the stuff of legend
Yea, if you could weld in the right angle like in your pic, I think it would work. Personally I'm happy with the hose. It's not broke, so I'm not gonna fix it. That's something you can always put off till it breaks or you get bored. You haven't started the engine yet, so just strap a hose clamp on i...

Re: A new build......seriously the stuff of legend
Yea, I wasn't sure how you expected to hook that up. Great pic showing the two pipes not lining up right. If you have your stock pipe coming out of the water pump, you can cut that in half, then shove the top part with the gasket into the upper area, then just add a hose. My pipe was pretty old, but...

Re: 7AGTE drift hatch
So much interesting shit keeps turning up at work that I can use for this project. Don't you mean 'turning up missing' hahaa That should look nice though, but they look kinda big. I worry they might not fit right. There's not much room. Luckily, you really don't see it unless you're looking for it....

Re: 7AGTE drift hatch
That's cool. Did you get the 3 bolts to line up?

Re: A new build......seriously the stuff of legend
So are you saying the crank pulley is at tdc, or it's moved over a little bit like mine was?

Re: 7AGTE drift hatch
Yea, you have to add the rubber hose cuz the pipe doesn't line up anymore. I can see the full pipe sticking out the top of your water pump so I thought I'd mention it. You'll see what I mean when you get to it I guess. Not sure what to say about the third bolt. Maybe try bolting only that one, then ...

Re: A new build......seriously the stuff of legend
So you're thinking you just set the crank and cams to tdc, then move the gear to the new tooth?

Re: 7AGTE drift hatch
Also, a little tip. You have to run a bit of hose and 2 clamps for that top pipe coming out of the pump. It's a bit easier to install while everythings loose. Try to cut the rubber tube at the perfect length, or maybe a hair longer. I cut my pipe in half, shoved top half into the upper. Then you put...

Re: 7AGTE drift hatch
hmm, idk. I'd be worried about it leaking like that. Those three bolts hold it tight to make the water seal. Did you replace that gasket btw? Such a pita to get it on there. Is that the water pump from a 4age? All three of my bolts lined up. Try pulling it all loose, and work on getting the third ho...

Re: A new build......seriously the stuff of legend
Yea the cams should be at tdc, but I don't think the crank pulley will be at tdc to match up with that stock mark. See, I used adjustable cams, so I set my crank at tdc, and then turned the cams a little bit so that the belts could line up right. You have the cheater gear, so you're doing it opposit...

Re: A new build......seriously the stuff of legend
I'm using the 4age oi dipstick on mine too, works a lot better imo. Looks to be about the same lines when I checked it as well. I have an impact and compressor in my garage, if you still need help getting it pulled apart, I'll be home all weekend. Feel free to swing by cypress if you want.

Re: A new build......seriously the stuff of legend
I don't think that timing mark is going to be right, that's probably the stock timing mark, but you are going to use the new key. You can use that to set your block at tdc, but then I think you'll have to rotate the engine a little bit and flip that gear to use the new key. You can tell the old vs n...
